Early musings on an encounter with grace (i.e. a rough draft of writing to accompany a finished photo/graphic):
The grace of God is communicated through nature. Yesterday I needed to be out of my apartment during the time of a weekly conference call with co-workers. Since it was a warm, sunny day in February I decided to sit in my car parked in its usual space. The dialogue proceeded with a mix of trending topics, tough questions, mirthful banter, and profound insights all converging to the dignity of the whole person and relating to one another with love that does not give into dualism of mind distinct from body, of individualism that devalues individual persons. Toward the end of our hour conversation I realized that the whole time my unfocused gaze out the front windshield rested on heart shape in the bark of the tree in front of my regular parking spot. All the while we were discussing topics like abortion, euthanasia, public prisons, volunteer burnout and the challenges when parishes experience a pastor change an antidote to such dis-ease went unnoticed. … In the end, love will break through the tough facades; we need to notice when and where then shout with joy so others see it too.
